Robert Thier, an Underappreciated Genius of the Victorian Era

All of us bookaholics have some day or the other read one or two books that we feel are totally underappreciated. Maybe because we find them so interesting or maybe it’s a rare change in pace from a specific genre. For me it was the “Storm and Silence” series (ongoing) by Robert Thier.

I’ve never been a fan of Historical Fiction and I generally avoid them. But while scrolling through Wattpad, I found the brief of this book a bit peculiar, which was not really something that is seen in such a genre and I opened the first chapter of the book. That was back in 2016 and 6 books later, 7th in progress I cannot get enough of it.

Some of you might know about the platform that was Wattpad back in 2016-17 when there was no such thing as “paid” books or premium or something. Except for a few ads to support the writers, that was a free platform and well, the best thing about it is its writers. Anyone who wanted to try out writing was on that platform writing and updating chapters daily, weekly, monthly or frustratingly enough, yearly.

When I started this series, it was the first book about halfway done and the new chapters were released every Wednesday. Just imagine the wait I had to go through every week for more than 5 years and IT’S STILL GOING ON! But it was all worth it because the story was EPIC! I even got one of my friends who didn’t read much hooked on this series which started her life as a bookworm. #sorrynotsorry

To give a brief, the story is about Lily and Rikkard Ambrose. Lily who always pushed the boundaries of the male-rule society, who started a job disguised as a man for one of the most frugal men Rikkard and by the end of the series, they had so many adventures wild and romantic and just plain awesome. I won’t give any more spoilers, you should read it to find out more about it. The books are available on Wattpad and Radish both. They're also available on Google books and Amazon to buy the hard copies.

To quote Anushka Dey from The Ruskin Journal, "It’s a journey full of humor, thrilling adventures, slow-burning romance, with the rich knowledge of etiquette, vocabulary and mannerisms of the Victorian-era being a bonus." Read more about their review of the books here.

Have any of you read them? Did you like them? Let me know in the comments!
